16/11/2010 - Berwick P3 review
Well done to the P3 team who won their 3rd tournament of the season at Berwick at the weekend. The lads played some fantastic attacking Rugby on what was a very small pitch and our defence in particular was excellent only conceding one try (which shouldn’t have been given). Kelso beat Berwick 8 tries to nil, Duns 6 tries to 1 and Gala 5 tries to nil. The Kelso player of the tournament as voted for by Mick and Richard was Cameron Thompson. Cameron’s display against Gala alone was fantastic, he demonstrated some determined and direct running to score great tries (including dives) and his defensive display was also outstanding. All of the kids played well on the day and well done to all.

05/10/2010 - Jed tournament P7 report
Despite having reduced numbers on Sunday the P7 team showed great determination in fighting through all of their games on Sunday. The earlier heavy rain held off and we saw some great play on a perfect pitch. With generous sub'ing from Duns and Melrose squads the team lost by just one try to Duns and also had close games against Melrose and Hawick. Alistair showed the aggressive and fearless display of tackling that we have come to expect from him, providing great defence and giving Kelso turnover possession. His attacking runs and good passing play moved the team well up the park as well as providing points. Stuart started off a little sleepily but soon found his feet - combining good defensive play and forward running on the wing to score important trys. Dan (aka 'Chunk') was full of energy throughout the three games (no doubt helped by his visit to the sweetie shop) and drove on with the ball up front with nice lay-offs of the ball to his team mates. He never seemed far from the ball, often giving good supporting play to his team mates. Dan teamed up with newcomer Mat as two promising props. Mat got stuck into play in all of the games and is starting to use his bulk effectively in forward play. This weekend and last weeks success at Penicuik show that we have some great players, although struggling with a small squad. We now go on to a few weeks of coaching - if you have any P7 friends that want to try rugby then get in touch with Wullie Mallen.
02/10/2010 - P3 progress report
HAWICK TOURNAMENT, 19TH SEPTEMBER 2010
Playing - Hawick [2 teams], Jed-Forest [1 team], Kelso [2 teams]. The boys gave a great display over the five games, winning four comfortably and drawing the last game against Hawick 1-1, losing a very dubious score on the last touch of the game (come on ‘ref!). Defence play is coming on, and we continue to work on support play and passing. Great tries were scored by several players, and Cameron, Ben and David shone with their quick and brave running. A solid display, well done all the P3’s, fantastic enthusiasm!
PENICUIK TOURNAMENT, 26TH SEPTEMBER 2010
Playing - Portbello, Penicuik, Lasswade, Dalkeith and Kelso. With last week’s wins under our belt, we again played two teams, at times playing back-to-back. Over the six games, we won five with plenty to spare with excellent running and support play from the boys and a real step-up from last week on the defence play throughout. Portbello were our best opponents and although the ref chalked up 2-2 final score, there was no doubt Kelso won 2-1 on tries after a very hard-fought and great game of touch rugby. Again, some great tries throughout and sharp running from Luke, Harry and Jack, particularly through the centre helped spread the play. Bradley turned in great performances and combined brave running with instinctive defence work to plug the gaps. A great result and Kelso were the worthy champions! Well done to all the boys, everyone working together as a team!
